Feminist Counter to the Great-Power Competition
About this campaign

This initiative, anchored by Women Cross DMZ, offers an anti-militarist vision of security as the U.S.-China rivalry intensifies and further militarizes the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2015 when 30 women peacemakers crossed the Demilitarized Zone calling for a formal end to the Korean War, Women Cross DMZ has been building relationships with feminist peacemakers across the Asia-Pacific region. The Korean War, which is the U.S.’ oldest forever war, has been used to justify more militarization of the region, including the 300 U.S. bases surrounding China. Our aim is to amplify the analysis and experience of feminist peacemakers on the effects of the great-power competition and to strengthen networks across the region to advance a feminist counter to the growing militarization and threat of war.
